A bag uses several materials, and the same color reference may look different on each one. Fabric, webbing, zipper tape and a printed logo should be reviewed as a combination. The goal is a documented approval decision, not an assumption that a color name guarantees an identical appearance.
Choose the controlling reference
State which physical reference the buyer wants the development team to use. If the brand has separate references for fabric and artwork, identify both. Avoid sending several unlabelled pictures with slightly different colors and expecting the factory to decide which is authoritative.
Review the components together
Place the proposed body fabric, trims and branding samples side by side. Record deliberate contrast as well as intended matching. A black zipper may be an intentional design decision even when the body fabric is green; the specification should make that explicit.
- Body and lining material codes.
- Webbing, binding, zipper and buckle colors.
- Logo or label reference and background material.
- Accepted differences between materials.
- Approved sample version, reviewer and date.
Agree how differences will be judged
The buyer and factory should define a suitable review method and acceptance basis for the project. This may require physical samples and an agreed viewing setup. Do not invent a numerical tolerance after production or treat a phone photograph as a calibrated color measurement.
Control the move from sample to production
Keep the approved references available to purchasing and inspection. If a supplier, finish or material changes, request another review before accepting the substitution. A color approval applies to a particular material and finish, not merely to a name in an email.
For a collection with several sizes, confirm whether all models use the same reference and components. If the brand accepts different trim combinations by model, list them separately. A compact color matrix is easier to check than a long conversation containing several conflicting approvals.
