Use OEM when the product is already defined
OEM works best when the buyer supplies drawings, a tech pack or a physical reference with clear dimensions, materials, artwork and performance requirements. The factory’s job is to review manufacturability, build the approval sample and reproduce it consistently.
Use ODM when speed matters and a suitable platform exists
ODM starts with a proven bag. The buyer can change fabric, color, branding, hardware, size and packaging without developing every structural detail from zero. It is often the practical route for a first collection or a faster market test.

Make the decision before asking for timing
