Magnetic Cooler Bag Lid Alignment: Review the Filled Bag, Not Just the Empty Sample

A magnetic opening can feel convenient on an empty showroom sample and behave differently after a buyer fills the bag. For a custom magnetic cooler bag, the useful procurement question is not simply whether the top closes. It is whether the opening returns to the agreed position with the intended contents inside, without hiding a gap or catching another component.

Start with the actual platform and its limits

Weierken’s C06 dual-layer magnetic cooler bag has separate upper and lower compartments and magnetic access to the upper section. That is the starting configuration, not evidence that every new size, load or material combination will work identically. Increasing the height, changing the handles or making the shell stiffer can alter how the mouth sits.

For an OEM review, send the contents list as well as the desired appearance. Include the largest container, whether users pack upright bottles, and whether the upper compartment will sometimes be nearly empty. Keep thermal performance and water resistance as separate questions requiring their own agreed verification. A magnetic closure should not be described as a watertight seal merely because it appears closed.

Use a loaded-shape comparison instead of one closing photograph

Ask for the same viewing angles with the bag empty, normally packed and packed to the intended upper limit. Photograph the opening from above and from both ends. A straight-on front image alone can conceal twisting at one corner. Record the contents used so another person can repeat the arrangement.

Watch what happens after the user releases the handles. If the handles pull the mouth sideways, a closure that looked aligned on a table may need a different handle position or a different loading instruction. Do not solve the review by pressing everything flat for the final photo. Capture the unassisted resting position first, then show any deliberate closing action.

A filled example of a procurement review

The following is an illustrative review sheet, not a report of completed testing or a customer result. Replace the descriptions with your own load and agreed acceptance criteria.

Configuration Action to record Evidence and decision
Upper compartment lightly filled Release both handles and close the mouth without reshaping the body Top and end photographs; flag uneven meeting edges
Normal lunch load Remove one item, replace it, then close the opening Short video showing whether a container pushes against the closure
Tallest planned item Check whether the specified closed shape remains possible Loaded height measurement and a clear accept/revise decision
Lower compartment loaded first Repeat upper access with the lower zipper fully closed Note whether body distortion changes the top alignment

This makes a sample discussion specific. “The top is not good” becomes “with the listed tall container inside, the right end remains displaced after the handles are released.” That is information a development team can act on.

Keep straps, labels and fingers out of the closing path

Check the opening with any shoulder strap, logo label and care label in its intended position. A label should not be relocated only for photography. Note where users naturally grip the top and whether a folded handle lies across the mouth. For a revised handle or trim, repeat the interaction check rather than carrying over the old approval.

Magnetic components also require a product-specific safety and compliance assessment for the intended market. This article does not establish magnet retention, child safety or suitability around medical devices. Put applicable requirements and warnings into the development brief and have them assessed by an appropriately qualified party.

Turn the findings into a revision request

Send one annotated image per issue and identify the sample revision. Separate a shape problem from a component problem: a top edge that is being pushed apart by the contents may not be solved by changing a magnetic component alone. Ask for the proposed construction change and any effect on packing space, weight and cost before approving it.

Use the same load again when the revised sample arrives. Keep the previous sample and comparison photos until the issue is closed. Our sample revision control guide explains how to maintain one approved specification rather than several conflicting email instructions.

Procurement FAQ

Can a magnetic cooler opening replace a waterproof zipper?

Not on the basis of convenience alone. The closure types have different construction and use limitations. Define the exposure conditions and required evidence before selecting a closure; do not transfer a waterproof claim from another platform.

What should we send Weierken before sampling?

Send the contents list, photos or dimensions of the tallest items, normal loading arrangement, preferred carrying method, branding area and destination market. Include any operating or safety requirements for the magnetic component.

Do we need to repeat the review after a size change?

Yes. A size change can affect panel shape, load pressure and handle interaction even when the closure component stays the same. Repeat the documented load configurations and keep the new revision linked to its own results.
