Finished Bag Inspection: A Buyer Checklist for the Approved Design

A finished-bag inspection should compare the order with the approved specification, not with an inspector’s general impression of a good bag. Before production, agree which details matter and how they will be checked. This is separate from evaluating the factory’s overall quality system.

Start with the correct reference

Identify the model, approved sample, drawing revision and purchase order. List any approved exceptions. If those records disagree, resolve the conflict before inspection rather than asking the inspector to choose a preferred version.

Organize the checklist by what can be verified

• Identity: model, color, artwork and supplied configuration.
• Dimensions: measurement points and agreed tolerances.
• Workmanship: seams, attachments, edges and visible finish.
• Operation: opening, carrying parts and removable components.
• Packing: accessories, unit identification and carton assortment.

Define measurement methods as well as target dimensions. An open, empty soft bag can be measured differently from a loaded or closed one. Photographs or a marked drawing help different reviewers use the same points.

Keep performance tests in their own scope

Visual inspection does not establish insulation duration, waterproof performance or compliance. Identify any required tests separately, with the applicable method, sample condition and acceptance basis. Do not replace a missing test with a photograph of a visually acceptable product.

Agree the decision and follow-up process

The buyer and factory should confirm the inspection plan, defect definitions and disposition procedure before checking the batch. This article does not prescribe a universal sampling level or acceptable defect rate. Those details depend on the order and the responsible quality team’s requirements.

A useful report records the inspected lot, references used, observations and supporting photographs. If corrective work is needed, state what must be rechecked and who may release the goods. Keep that decision linked to the order so that an unresolved issue is not lost during packing or shipment preparation.
